coupons 2012

January 9, 2012
Wal-Mart
I used coupons for all of these items, saving 30% overall. I got some excellent deals (like 2 for 1 for the Club House seasoning envelopes) and in some cases I just didn't want to waste the coupons (like the pasta, which was regular price.)

Kitty litter: 7.99 - 1.00 coupon = 6.99 (13 % - better than nothing!)

I got the glade Sense & Scent for FREE, with a "try one" coupon from Save.ca.

I did not have a coupon for the milk, but it was only $1.20 for 4L because it expires Jan 11...not a problem for us; it'll be gone by then! That's about 80% off!

This averages out to about 52% savings. :-)
Plus I had $10.00 off my order with my HBC rewards!

The Bounty packages are upside down beside in the bottom there were...COUPONS...20$ worth in each package!! WOOHOO!!!

March 1, 2012
February was a tough month for the McWilby family. Kevin was off work with his hand and I got less calls for subbing than I did in January, and those bills just keep coming in...

We spent less in general this month, because we simply had less $ to spend.

I saved a total of $46.68, of which over $15 was from coupons and the rest were quick-sale items.

I bought 4 packs of TP, which were on sale for $4.99 and I had a total of $6.00 off...so I got one pack for free and little off another one.
Even better on the Vileda Scrunge sponges...they were on sale for $1.49 each and I had a total of $4 in coupons....so totally free!!!  (100% off)

March 22, 2012

I love getting stuff for free

This week I got a 591 mL bottle of Dr. Pepper virtually for free (I paid tax & deposit, so $0.30) with a coupon from Save.ca (100% off)

I got a box of Chapman ice cream sandwiches for 27 cents, with my $5.00 off coupon for joining Chapman's Club online. (95% off)

I also joined Activia's website and I got $20 worth of coupons. I used one to get $2.00 off a 12-pack of yogourts. With the purchase of the 12-pack I could use another coupon for a free 4-pack of Activia desserts! So I paid a little over $2.00 in all for both products!

I also got an 8-pack of Oasis juice boxes for free with a coupon I got inside a box of granola bars. (100% off)

March savings
Quick sale items: $32.69
Superbucks:         $11.65
Coupons:             $36.67
TOTAL :             $81.01!!!!

September Savings
You know it's a tough month when the monthly grocery bill for 4 people only comes to $191.
Our normal month averages $450!

In case you don't know, I am a substitute teacher, therefore I have been unemployed since school ended in June. Unfortunately last year I did not work enough hours to qualify for unemployment insurance this summer. I mowed a few lawns, but $50 a week does not go very far!

On a good note, I am working 2 half days a week at Darcy's pre-school and I've already had one full teaching day.

Thank you Mom for your support in the form of lots of home-cooked meals and care packages!

I saved $30.90 (16 %) with coupons and quick-sale items!

December 3, 2012

Free milk!!!

I won a free 4L bag of milk!!! Thank you Lactancia & Facebook!! (100% off)

Of course with Christmas and all the toys comes the need for batteries. Due my penchant for buying 2nd hand, if it weren't for my keen eye for savings I would spend more on the batteries than the gifts!

2 BIG packs of batteries (AA & AAA) on sale from 18.99 each for 11.99 each plus 2 $0.75 off coupons = 41% SAVINGS!!!

Savings for the year 2012
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Using coupons and buying quick sale items in December I saved $55.90, which brings my savings for the year 2012 to a grand total of $801.64!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's an average of over $66/month

My goal for 2013 is to save a total of $1000.

After reviewing my records I have noted a dramatic decrease in spending on Darcy's clothes. This is due to several factors, including that we simply have a smaller budget. Hand-me downs from my cousin and the buy/sell/trade groups I participate in have a huge role!

Darcy:
2009: $1900
2010: $1200
2011: $650
2012: $350 - WOW!

Cameron:
2008: $143
2009: $832
2010: $420
2011: $508
2012: $110 - WOW!

For Kevin and I together our clothing budget is even less than that, so altogether it is under $1000 (probably less than $600 actually) for a family of 4 per year.
