Comedy night (April 2015)

We went to a school fundraiser with hypnotist Robert Maxwell.

It was hilarious!!!

Kevin volunteered to go on stage, but he did not get successfully hypnotised.
All the volunteers on stage.

Everybody lean to the left...

Everybody lean to the right...

Kevin has a lady's head on each of his shoulders.

Finally 5 people were hypnotised. Here the hypnotist has them believing that when a stuffed animal touches them, that it is really a thumb tack. The girl standing thinks she's the nurse and is covering their faces with bandaids.

The 5 hypnotised women were told to go out into the crowd and that they would dance withnthe first person who made eye contact. On the left you see Kevin dancing.

It was a thoroughly entertaining evening. If they do it again I highly recommend it!

Office update

Before...the paint job that was done for Cam's nursery in 2004. The paint is very faded. Kevin removed the disfunctional wall sconces and put in a ceiling light for me. I patched the holes in the walls. The new window was installed in September. I still have to finish stripping the original window casing.

This office/guest room update was mega low budget. The new ceiling light was a gift from a friend. The beige paint was left over from Darcy's bedroom. I mixed all the leftover blue paint together and love the results! I had just enough gloss white left to do the chairrail. I also had enough flat white to do the ceiling. The pink on the door is left from the bathroom reno 2 years ago. The blackboard paint is left from making Darcy and Cam's blackboards in their rooms.

Cameron's 11th birthday

Cameron had a comic book themed birthday this year.

I was able to find a free Big Nate comic maker app to make the invitations with.

My mom saved me the comics from the newspaper and I made garlands and other decorations with them.

I bought a white plastic table cloth ($1) and drew a generic comic strip on it for the table.

I also bought a dark blue plastic table cloth (1$) and drew a nighttime cityscape with a sharpie, making sure to leave blank spaces for windows and doors. I cut out some blank spaces and taped yellow paper behind. Some windows look brightly lit, some shaded. I also cut out some sound effect  shapes and taped them in the sky. This was the backdrop to the snack table.

I used some polka dotted scrapbook paper to make word bibbles to label some of the snacks.

Entertainment for this party was easy. It was a nice day so all the boys went outside and chased each other with Nerf guns.

In the fall, when DQ closed for the winter, I bought a plain ice cream cake, 40% off and saved it for this.

Cam had a friend stay overnight. It was such a beautiful evening, they stayed outside sitting in the tree for quite a while.

We surprised Cam with an aquarium in his room for his birthday, too.
