While sitting, alone, at my computer this afternoon I heard a loud noise, like a heavy truck or maybe the nearby removations. Then I felt the house vibrate, then it started to shake and the noise got quite loud. I thought to myself, "that's no truck!" and I ran to the front door and looked outside. No trucks. No cars. Just 2 people standing on the sidewalk. It must have been an earthquake.
I looked up Natural Resources Canada and sure enough there had been an automatic recording of a 4.7 earthquake centered near home. It was later ammended to 4.3.
Nothing appeared to be dammaged, however later when I opened a cupboard door a sippy cup fell out onto the counter. My mom said that when she went upstairs the cupboard doors in her bathroom were open, but nothing had fallen out.
