Summer 2017

We had many lakeside bonfires this summer and they were all great. Some had guitars and singing, some had meteor showers, some had camp coffee; they all had good company.

Having fun with shapes:

I volunteered at the fair gates one night to help get a donation to the Girl Guides. Kevin watched the tractor pull, Darcy slept over at Nannas's and Cam had some freedom to roam around the fair grounds.

I also spent the summer doing three gardening contracts and coaching Darcy's baseball team.

 GEN!!! OMG!!! It had been at least 10 years since we last saw each other in person. It was like time never passed. I don't have a lot of pictures, but I will have wonderful memories. I wish the day could have stretched on much longer, but alas Gen is popular woman and had other visits to make on her short stay in Canada. 

Our daughters hit it off immediately. Darcy still talks about her and has become pen pals with her. Genevieve and her family live in Burkina Faso.

Kevin and I have been helping his mom redo her patio. She had the backyard sodded and all the patio stones were removed and left in stacks in her driveway.

Of course, we can't work on the patio when it's wet and when we are available to go work on it, it has to be one of the hottest days of the summer.

The wharf is secured for the winter, the chairs, kayaks and BBQ's are all stored and the water is drained and closed...sad time of year despite the beauty.

May 28: First weekend at the lake. 

Not having our boat in the lake didn't stop us from getting a boat this weekend! Our neighbor took us out for a wee ride :-)

OMG!!!OMG!!!OMG!!! 

First of all, say what!?!? Gord Downey of my all-time favorite band has BRAIN CANCER!!!!????

Second of all, I got tickets to the Ottawa show on their final tour. Final tour. Final...still can't believe this...I know he's not family, or even someone I actually know, but I feel like he is a friend. I have learned so much about him, his band and his music over the past 20+ years of listening to The Tragically hip. His voice has been in the background of so many experiences in my life. I actually took an interest in some of Canada's history because of their lyrics.

I have been to see The Hip at The Montreal Forum, at Bourbon North, at a small venue somewhere in Montreal (I think it was on St. Denis St), at the Bell Centre and soon at the Canadian Tire Centre. Each show was different and amazing...such a tight band, lots of energy and it's really about the music, not about stunts, or lights, or costume changes...about music. I can't believe this it; this is going to be the last time I see them live.

Cameron graduated from grade 6. High school in the fall!!

August 1 and 2, 2014

Lisa and Brent canoeing. Lisa also took Darcy kayaking and Brent went for a boat ride with the rest of us. 

We will be going to Gaspe, to visit Kevin's family, in a few days. Since we don't have a washer and dryer at the lake, I have been packing the things we will need as they get washed. Looks like someone wants to come with us!

After supper tonight we had a nice bonfire until the wee hours of the morning. 

Aug 2, 2014

Today would have been Ron and Cecile's 45th weddig anniversary. 

I attended the lake committee meeting for 2 hours, with both kids. Kevin was busy and my mom was attending a reunion. They were bored, they were either too hot or too cold (we were sitting u der the A/C),  but they were so good!!!! They actually got compliments as we were leaving for being so quiet and patient. So proud of them!!!

Jeff, Jacob and Marina cams to visit. The kids all went out in the pedal boat, Jacob was captain!
