Summer 2017

We had many lakeside bonfires this summer and they were all great. Some had guitars and singing, some had meteor showers, some had camp coffee; they all had good company.

Having fun with shapes:

I volunteered at the fair gates one night to help get a donation to the Girl Guides. Kevin watched the tractor pull, Darcy slept over at Nannas's and Cam had some freedom to roam around the fair grounds.

I also spent the summer doing three gardening contracts and coaching Darcy's baseball team.

 GEN!!! OMG!!! It had been at least 10 years since we last saw each other in person. It was like time never passed. I don't have a lot of pictures, but I will have wonderful memories. I wish the day could have stretched on much longer, but alas Gen is popular woman and had other visits to make on her short stay in Canada. 

Our daughters hit it off immediately. Darcy still talks about her and has become pen pals with her. Genevieve and her family live in Burkina Faso.

Kevin and I have been helping his mom redo her patio. She had the backyard sodded and all the patio stones were removed and left in stacks in her driveway.

Of course, we can't work on the patio when it's wet and when we are available to go work on it, it has to be one of the hottest days of the summer.

A day in my life

Aug 19, 2013: A day in my life (condensed)

 

3:15 a.m.: Kevin up for work

 

6:45: Darcy up

 

7:30 Angie up, put out bird feeders, garbage up the hill. 15 degrees C.

 

8:00 Wake up Cam. We all make our beds. Tigger escaped. Cam & Darcy arguing already. Movie on to distract them while I get on with morning routine.

 

9:45 breakfast is finally ready! Darcy set the table :-)

 

10:15 Breakfast table conversation about Minecraft lead to Darcy asking, "What is Hell?"

This led us into the topics of religion, Heaven and Hell which got Cameron talking about the afterlife and ghosts....OMG!

 

10:40 Cameron brought up the recycling. Darcy brought the empty water bottles to the car. We're ready to wash mom's car as a birthday present for her.

 

12:20 Mom's car shiny & clean! The Jeep is washed, too, however "clean" means it looks like my mom's car did BEFORE I cleaned it...LOL!

 

12:55 lunch

 

1:00 Don & Pat arrived at mom's

 

2:45 Visit with Don & Pat. Swimming with Darcy. Cam didn't want to swim.

 

3:00 fix bumper strip on one side of wharf. Attach a new strip on the old section. Massive waves from the wake boats are destroying everything. :-(

 

 

3:15: Picked some hydrangeas - not at their peak, but still beautiful.

Cam & Darcy talking about an imaginary friend's ashes (Darcy calls them "sparks") - I assume this stems from the breakfast talk.

 

 

3:30 Fixed broken birdfeeder. Cam & Darcy found a big beautiful dragonfly on a towel (see pic at beginning) and they were both able to gently touch it.

 

4:00 Another swim then time to get ready for Baseball.

 

4:53: almost ready...Cam and Darcy threatening to be/not be each other's friend... *sigh*

5:14 arrive at house in town and NO purse. NO keys!!! Plus the CHRISTMAS wish book from Sears was on the front step - c'mon!  While waiting for Kevin to come to my rescue the kids went to play in the yard.

5:45 Baseball starts in 15 minutes and I realize Darcy's shoes are too small! I luckily found a pair of hand-me-downs that fit - phew!

5:56 arrive at baseball. No coach. Again. 4 in a row. Luickily there are several dedicated parent volunteers that keep things running smoothly.

 

7:27 Baseball over. Darcy played well!!! Kevin came to pick up Cam just in time to see Darcy's last turn at bat. I took Darcy for her FREE ice cream at DQ. Thank goodness it's free (remember I don't have my purse!)

9:05 following ice cream and laundry we finally get back to the lake. Darcy saw the full moon on the way. She also saw the first star and said, "Star light star bright." Poor tired monkey - carry her to bed.

10:00 Gorgeous warm night. Go out to admire the moon. Then over to visit with mom and Pat a bit. Played with the kitten and helped with a few little chores.

Spring sightings

April 12, 2013

 

On April 2nd I saw 6 robins in the yard. It snowed 3 days later. 

This week I saw a Great Blue Heron, 2 or 3 flocks of geese, 2 hooded mergansers and a chipmunk. It's going to snow ~15 cm today!!!

C'mon Spring, we`re all confused, we need you!
