March 2009
We had a close encounter of the bandit kind...discovering a raccoon chewing his way into the summer kitchen.
After supper, on one of their cigarette breaks, Severine and Todd fed the raccoons some left over bread from supper. (Hey guys, we're trying to make them GO AWAY...not encourage them!!) The two raccoons appear to be juveniles and Severine was able to hand feed one of the them.
The next morning the 2 bandits were sitting in the barn window. (Hey that's Ollie's barn!)
Later that week they managed to get into the green garbage bin, but then couldn't get out. I ended up putting a shovel in there so they could use it to climb out. Now there is a bag of salt holding down the lid, but Kevin found them in the blue bin this morning.
Last night Kevin called me out to the back deck to see the raccoons again. They are getting bolder, this time investigating the slippers they found, only my feet were still inside the slippers!!!
As cute as these guys are, they need to move on, if any one has any suggestions how we could humanely discourage them from living under the deck and in the barn, please let me know.
