Aug 28, 2014: our new windows are finally going in!

Aug 28, 2014: our new windows are finally going in!
Look how thick our walls are!

April 5 - 11, 2014

This is the kind of day I was having, where even getting a simple piece of tape becomes problematic.

8 pine windows were delivered. I am going to varathane at least the outside of the 2nd story windows before they are installed.

We are receiving a 5000$ grant from the county to replace our windows. Kevin's dad is helping us with the difference. WOW! This is going to make such a big difference on the electricity bill next winter!

Darcy took this picture of me varathaning our new windows.

Feb 2013: Bathroom reno

Here's a good "before" picture

This is a project that has been long talked about and we are finally doing it!
We owe a BIG thank you to Kevin's dad for his help.

AFTER: new panelling & flooring, waiting for window and then we can put the bathtub in.

NEW: Bathtub is back in the bathroom, but we have not had time to shop for the plumbing fixtures yet. You can see the beautiful new pine window, too. It needs to be varathaned before we put the window casing back up.
(Jan 2015: bath tub STILL looks like this - unusable. It is very hard to find modern, antique-looking, exposed plumbing in our budget!!!)
I removed all the window casings, including the antique square nails.
I will repurpose this wood, but into what?? You'll have to wait and see.

Ceiling before and after. I love the wallpaper borders on the ceiling, but the pink not so much. I painted the middle of the ceiling beige (instead of white) and now the white border shows up more. I changed the pink to a softer shade and LOVE it.

Baseboards and corner pieces ready to be painted.

There is a bathtub in the hallway!

Bathtub was mostly pink on the outside before. Some places at the back were green. The outside is now a light beige called "white pine."

The feet were gold and white on the side that was showing; green or unpainted on the back. I tried to get gold paint to re-paint them, but could not. I went with "steel" and we like the results.

Cupboards, plus you can see the new light and the new colors on the ceiling.
my helper!

CLOSET AFTER - new floor, white paint. We will put in shelving.
This will be where Cameron & Darcy can store their things.

Wainscoting wall panels installed. This project proved to be more difficult than we anticipated!!

Sink installed! YAY we can wash our hands and brush our teeth upstairs again :-)
