Covid19 May 2020

 May 2020:

A little pandemic humour

It's OK to ask for help

May 1 - over 2000 Covid deaths in Quebec

Over 3000 deaths in Canada
(it's very unsettling that the majority of deaths are in Quebec!)

Comparison of different causes of death.

Typical in stores these days

Many organizations are reaching out to help families.
Confinement is not the same for everyone. While some feel safe at home, away from the virus, some may be facing things much worse than a virus at home.

Even those that feel safe at home will find this situation difficult at some point.

Deconfinement is very complicated.

May 2, 2020 - stages of deconfinement

Store open hours changing again

A snapshot of the situation in Canada - May 2, 2020

Quebec May 3, 2020 - 758 new cases and 75 new deaths.

Schools preparing to re-open.
So many things will be off-limits due to difficulty of cleaning them.

Students' belongings ready to be sent home.
This is not normal.

School should not look like this.

World wide cases on May 4, 2020 - creeping up on 4 million cases.

May 4, 2020: Cases and deaths in Canada

Long line ups to get into Maxi

This is Cameron walking into his school for the first time since March 12, 2020.
It was also his last time of grade 10.
Students were allowed in by appointment to collect their beongings. So sad.

More and more empty shelves

not even any sparkling water left!

May 7, 2020 - 1660 new cases in the last 24 hours.

Montreal's deconfinement keeps getting postponed.

More line ups outside stores.

May 7, 2020 11:30 AM: Email from school re picking up personal items.

Pick up is scheduled, by class, for Friday and Saturday.

Darcy’s pick up is 8:30 Sat morning.

Waiting for our turn to pick up Darcy's belongings, even though she will be returning to school. And on a Saturday morning!

We were greeted by a staff member who asked for our child's name and then went to get her things.

All the students' belongings outside in garbande bags. So sad.

The state of things in our neck of the woods.

May 10, 2020 - 748 new cases. Over 3000 deaths in Quebec.

Masks will now be strongly recommended in most public spaces, including store, public transit, and any places where it is difficult to keep 2m distance.

This is how Darcy's "Covid classroom" looks.
The student stays within the blue square, the teacher stays out of it as do other students.

I got a message from her teacher and pics to assure me Darcy was fine!

Quebec May 13, 2020.
Nearly 40 000 cases since the beginning of this just a short time ago.

Activities that will be allowed as of  May 20, 2020.

The lower section can only be done outside indivisually or in pairs, without physical contact with others, as practice, not as a sport and without access to the lockeroom.

No baseball on that list!

reminder that wearing gloves when you shop does not necessarily mean you are clean

May 14, 2020 - our neck of the woods

These kinds of reminders, explanations are all over social media.
This one happens to be about golf.

Quebec trying to re-open and help businesses stay afloat.

May 17...continued empty shelves

May 17, 2020 for Quebec

You can't return cans or bottles right now, so we have amassed a lot (a lot more than there is here!) We donated them to a local charity

The border will remain closed.

Many medical centres have been closed for weeks. Many medical procedures and treatments have been cancelled for weeks.

May 19, 2020

World wide stats May 21, 2020 - Over 5 million cases

My face after wearing an N95 mask for a few hours.

National parks will re-open

I made Kevin a mask to wear to work. :-)

May 25, 2020, new cases are dropping, but over 4000 deaths in Quebec now.

Shopping for multiple families

Paper products remain in short supply

Courts will re-open.

Sad school classroom with no students.

Personal hygeine!!!

May 31, 2020 - 295 new cases - this number is much better!!

Kevin's Aunt Mary passed away. We were not able to go see her due to the distance, but even if it were closer, we wouldn't have been allowed into the room. Funeral is planned for the summer. Since we live near a hot spot (although not at all in one) we are not really welcome there anywau.
