April 1, 2020:
Advantage of working from home, I can work at any time of the day! Disadvantage of working from home, I can work at any time of the day. Just heading to bed and thought I’d post my daily isolation journal.

April 2, 2020:
Today marks 3 weeks of self-isolation in Quebec. The world hit a milestone today, over 1 000 000 cases of Covid-19 have been reported. Canada over 10 000 cases.
It was nice to be able to hang clothes out on the line (and get it in before the rain). Darcy did her two art videoconferences today. I finished cleaning the laundry room and finished up my church work for the week.
I watched a couple episodes of 100 Humans with Darcy and I really like it. Very interesting! Kevin has gotten into Tiger King; I think he finished it!
Pedagogical
toolkit for students: "open school", SWLSB learning back pack, teacher’s own

Food. Today was mostly about food. I also gave the dog a bath, did my church
work and a little homeschooling.
April 10, 2020: Today, Friday was more about cleaning and less about food.
Some math, poetry and phys ed, too! Almost forgot it’s Good Friday, some Easter
decorations were needed.
April 11, 2020: Another round of shopping and delivering today.
April 12, 2020: I miss school so much... so does Darcy We’ll see you soon LES. We’ll keep walking by
and looking for new rainbows until we can go back to our home away from home.

April 19, 2020:
I am busier then ever with homeschooling, work,
Zoom meetings, shopping and delivering groceries, house cleaning, yard work and
more.
On one hand the restrictions are getting to me.
I have to prepare in advance for my outings. I bring disinfectant, my lists, a
pencil and I make sure my phone is charged, so I can contact ppl while I am
shopping and take pics of the bills in case there
are checkpoints. By the time I get to the cash I have walked around the store 5
times (following the arrows) and I am in a cold sweat.
On the other hand I feel I have been given the gift
of time with my family. Especially after a tumultuous fall that took me away
from home so much, this is such a treasure. I feel fortunate and privileged to
be well and able to help others, to play a role in keeping them safe.
I saw Darcy begin to regress recently. She would
not call her friends, despite a lot of cajoling. I kept reminding her texting
and talking are different. Then her teacher hosted a live chat on Zoom and
there she was, my old Darcy ❤️ She reconnected with classmates and exchanged emails
with some. She has been on the phone actually speaking to people!!!
Kevin went back to work which is both a relief and
a worry.
The summer kitchen got a makeover and we celebrated
Easter without much todo.
April
21, 2020: Confinement day 30-something...
Weird Weather!
The playroom/office and Cam’s room got deep cleaned and re-organized
today.
Yesterday I finished raking the gardens, but
can’t pick up the leaves as the bins are full (they were emptied Friday. Kids
got some Fence Time.
April 22, 2020:
Today (well, yesterday, Wednesday, but my day is ending at 3:22 am Thursday) was a hard one for me. A few different things converged making my day more difficult than I expected. 😬
I apologize to the people I shopped for if I mixed up items in your orders! Just because today was challenging in no way means I am unhappy helping people. Helping makes me feel good and feel like I have a little bit of control of the situation. 🙂
~3.5 hours shopping in 2 stores for 5 families. After delivery, I got home ~5:30 and I still had my own groceries to clean and put away. I had not eaten all day and finally I had supper ready at ~7:30.
At 9:00 pm I started work (church work, work from home). This work is always done Wed/Thurs. I stopped at 10:15 pm to say goodnight to Darcy and we talked for a few minutes. I stopped for half an hour when Kevin went to bed to talk to him a bit. Now FB is a little relaxation before I hit the hay for about 4 hours. 🛌
Next week I need to re-think how I do this. Then
there’s the possibility of school re-opening... if I am back at work can I
still shop for my friends and family? I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.
April 23, 2020
6 years since Kevin’s dad passed way. We miss
him and talk about him often. ❤️
Today was a good day. Darcy had two art videoconferences, I did the last-minute changes to my work and sent it all off. We walked to Cafe Infusion for Bubble Tea, a smoothie and waffles for tomorrow’s breakfast. Darcy and I practiced cartwheels in the backyard. The kids and I all got some Fence Time, too!

April 24-26, 2020:
We had a good weekend. Continued with the
cleaning and sorting of our house. I did a little “bar hopping”. Kevin cleaned
out his truck. Darcy got some fence time. We prepared a surprise for Cam for
his birthday on Tuesday!
Monday April 27, 2020: 6 weeks of confinement have passed. My house is clean and organized, multiple room makeovers, enough garbage to fill a truck, veranda full of stuff to give away, gardens raked and ready for Cam’s birthday.
4:57 PM SWLSB email
to parents:
“Good
afternoon parents/guardians,
Many of you have probably heard the government’s announcement on
the reopening of schools today. We understand that this raises many questions.
At this time, the information we have is the same as you have.
As we have been doing for
the past few weeks, we will provide you with more information as soon as
we can.”
Happy 16th birthday to Cameron! Probably the worst birthday
ever for him, but we did our best to make it nice for him. I decorated the
fence where he always talks to Megan. I made a yummy brunch for us (while in
a videoconference). We arranged to have our neighbors meet us outside and
sing happy birthday. His best friend dropped in to wish him happy birthday
from at least 6’ away. We saw some friends walk by and said hi. We got to eat
the cheesecake finally! Kevin and I cleaned up the Maxi trash in the trees at
the back, too. |
