As Canadians we ought to be ashamed of ourselves.
After the recent exposure of Le Berger Blanc's abusive acts, many people have come forward to sign petitions, rally, protest, send letters and emails and create CHANGE. How can there be so many hard-working, caring, animal-loving people YET so many abused animals in this country and in particular, this province?
One reason: our criminal code. To put it simply, according to our law an animal is less valuable than a car. The pain and suffering of a living, breathing, feeling animal carries a lighter sentence than damaging an inanimate object.
As you will see in "Revealed: No Country for Animals" our minimum standards for animal welfare is a sad state of affairs. It's unacceptable that the situation is such that it is sometimes a victory to see a cow die, rather than live in the condition it was in. Our nation either allows these deplorable conditions or doesn't bother to inspect.
This Global report is a must see:

Investigations, court cases, petitions...no one with the power to change it is listening. It's up to us, as consumers, as citizens, as responsible people to be the voice for our nation's animals.
"...that when Canadians learn what's happening, that they will not tolerate it, that they'll scream loud enough that change will have to happen." - Twyla Francois.
Don't let Twlya down. Don't let me down. Don't let the abused, caged, suffering animals down.
Do not buy pets from pet stores. There are plenty of wonderful animals in shelters than would make lovely pets. They will cost less, and will most likely be sterilized already. If you want a purebred, go directly to the breeder. A reputable breeder will be proud to show you where their dogs live and to show off the parents of the puppy you are interested in. If not - stay away. if everyone did this we would automatically shut down all the puppy mills.
Look for free range meat. I don't know how I am going to afford it, but I am going to start looking for this. I think we will also have meatless meals at least once a week.
Spread the word. Share the link to the video with everyone you know. Talk about it. Inquire about where your food comes from, where your potential pet comes from.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and view the report. I appreciate and I'm sure at least one being will be spared and they appreciate it too.
