Some funnies I collected

(This is totally me!)

Cameron's 11th birthday

Cameron had a comic book themed birthday this year.

I was able to find a free Big Nate comic maker app to make the invitations with.

My mom saved me the comics from the newspaper and I made garlands and other decorations with them.

I bought a white plastic table cloth ($1) and drew a generic comic strip on it for the table.

I also bought a dark blue plastic table cloth (1$) and drew a nighttime cityscape with a sharpie, making sure to leave blank spaces for windows and doors. I cut out some blank spaces and taped yellow paper behind. Some windows look brightly lit, some shaded. I also cut out some sound effect  shapes and taped them in the sky. This was the backdrop to the snack table.

I used some polka dotted scrapbook paper to make word bibbles to label some of the snacks.

Entertainment for this party was easy. It was a nice day so all the boys went outside and chased each other with Nerf guns.

In the fall, when DQ closed for the winter, I bought a plain ice cream cake, 40% off and saved it for this.

Cam had a friend stay overnight. It was such a beautiful evening, they stayed outside sitting in the tree for quite a while.

We surprised Cam with an aquarium in his room for his birthday, too.

Nutritious breakfast

I volunteered to make muffins for a special breakfast at school. I decided to make banana muffins only to realize I didn't have enough ripe bananas. Fearnot! I've seen how to ripen bananas in the oven in Pinterest!!! So off I went to buy some bananas and ripen them in the oven (just google it or search Pinterest). They definitely ripened in about 45 minutes, but the moisture content is just not the same as naturally ripened bananas.

They tasted fine, but looked awful!!! What kid would choose these?

I did not have enough of most of the ingredients (butter, vanilla, sugar) left, and of course they were needed at 7:00 the next morning, so with about half an hour until the stores closed I went out and cheated. I bought a package of bran muffin mix. Much better!

Easter 2015

I tried dying eggs using silk with lovely results. I wasn't sure it would work, so I used hard boiled eggs instead of emptied eggs, so I had to throw them out after Easter.

Here are some webpages with instructions:

http://www.marthastewart.com/269788/silk-tie-easter-eggs
http://mommyknows.com/silk-tie-dye-easter-eggs-tutorial/

It says you can eat them, but some sites I looked up said the dye can leach into the egg through the shell. I cracked open one of my eggs and sure enough the egg white was slightly blue, so we did not eat any of them.

I emptied some eggs shells (blown eggs) for Darcy to decorate so she could keep them after. I followed these instructions:
http://m.wikihow.com/Blow-Out-Eggs

The one thing I did not do  exactly the same was to blow the eggs with my mouth directly on the egg, not through a straw. Well I have learned my lesson!!! I emptied the eggs the Monday night before Easter and 24 hours later the gurgling started. I pretty much missed all of the 4-day Easter weekend. So be warned: even the outside of the egg shell, washed (which I did) carries Salmonella!!!

True to form, the symptoms were gone after 7 days...and 5 pounds were gone, too.

February 2015

We went to visit Charla and her feeder was full of cardinals!!

I made this doll as a birthday gift for one of Darcy's friends.

Proof Ollie is in the house,

More proof...hierarchy also present. Not sure who thinks they are king, Ollie since he's higher up or Eric since he's closer to the food bowl!

A rare pic of me!

Whoa man, holy early 90's!!!
