Crock pot chicken noodle soup

Here is the link to the recipe I used:

I used chicken stock from this post:

The crock pot soup came out bland. it would be an excellent basic chicken soup to spice to your taste. I added oregano, paprika, basil, salt, pepper, and some parmesan cheese to the left overs and WOW!!!

Whole chicken in the crock pot

Tonight we are trying this recipe for roasting a whole chicken in a crock pot / slow cooker.

Ingredients:
1 4lb whole chicken, insides removed, washed and patted dry
1/2 tbsp paprika
2 tbsp all purpose seasoning such as Mrs. Dash*
1/2 tbsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt **

Mix seasonings together.

Place 4 foil balls in bottom of crock pot to act as a stand for the chicken to prevent it from drying out. OR use large 2 inch chunks of root vegetables^ (potaotes, carrots, onions, turnips).

Rub seasoning mix all over chicken, including inside. Place on top of foil balls/vegetables.

Cover and cook on HIGH for 4- 4.5 hours or on LOW 6.5 -8 hours.

Serve with roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes (or vegetables/potatoes from the slow cooker) and rolls.

*For the all purpose seasoning I used 1/2 tbsp of Windsor Nature's Seasons seasoning blend and 1 1/2 tbsp of Club House La Grille Montreal Chicken seasoning.

**I reduced the salt at the end since the Windors seasoning is salt based.

^Instead of foil balls as a stand in the bottom I used potatoes. i also had 4 local carrots left, so I washed them and placed them, whole, on top of the chicken.
